Good gosh, there was no shortage of exciting baseball this weekend! All come-from-behind wins won in dramatic fashion! All close games! No routine days at the ballpark this weekend. Mmmm. I love it.

“Back in 2009 you had really a terrific season. Did you think that, based on your performance, you were gonna get a call-up that year?
Yeah, yeah. It was kinda weird. I don’t know what happened. Things just kinda clicked. They made me do this new leg kick that year, and all of a sudden I was becoming consistent in the strike zone and the curveball was there. Things just went my way that year. I felt like I deserved [a call-up], but…I feel like the stars have to align. It was kind of a bummer, but you just gotta try to forget about it.”

Las Vegas 51s scorecards and tickets.
The scorecards here were free! Printed in the middle of a little program on magazine-type paper, though, which isn’t the best for marking on… with any writing implement as I’ve found out.
“As far as the places you’ve played – you mentioned Triple-A, you mentioned being around a little bit – what are some of your favorite places you’ve played, both home and away?
That’s a great question. I actually thought about this, someone asked me this not too long ago, one of my teammates, and it’s a really good question. This would probably be up there. It could be probably the best place I’ve ever played at, and played in, at, everything. Professionally, I would have to say New Hampshire. Another good place would be Oklahoma City, is very nice. So out of all the places, those are probably my favorite top two, New Hampshire and Oklahoma City.”

Brian Moynahan Q&A’s Bryce Brentz:
“And then obviously you went on to Middle Tennessee State after that, and you still hold a bunch of career and single season records there. A bunch of different categories. Do you take pride in the fact that you can look back at the record book there and see that you hold all those records?
Yeah, definitely. I told my dad my freshman year when I got there, I told him, “I’m gonna get Freshman of the Year.” Won that, then I told him the second year, “We’re gonna win the championship,” because we had a great team. And we did that. My third year, I said, “Dad, before I leave here, I promise you I’m gonna hold more records.” And I did. And I got blessed to have a great coaching staff, had a great lineup to help protect me, and it was a great three years. It was something special I’ll never forget. It was the best decision I ever made, going to that college.”
